GANDERBAL, June 3: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal today organized an awareness program on ‘Legal Aid Defense Counsel Scheme, Modified Scheme 2022” at village Waliwar Lar Ganderbal.
The event was held under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the directions and overall supervision of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman, DLSA Ganderbal, and Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA, Ganderbal.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness among the participants about the Modified LADCs scheme, 2022 and to provide effective and efficient legal services to eligible persons from weaker and marginalised sections of the society in criminal matters.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant, LADC, Ganderbal, gave an insight on the provisions of the scheme. He said that the scheme provides qualitative and competent legal services in criminal matters to all eligible persons.
He educated participants about the concept of legal aid and the services provided by Legal Aid Defence Counsels. He informed participants about the legal services provided by the Legal Services Authorities to accused/ convicts, who are in custody or otherwise coming within the eligibility criteria spelt out in Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
The programme was attended by the general public of village Chountwaliwar of Tehsil Lar, Para Legal Volunteers etc.
