Jammu, June 3: In response to growing security concerns, the District Magistrate of Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, has issued an order mandating the disclosure of tenant details by all property owners.
This directive, rooted in Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), aims to enhance public safety by curbing the sheltering of anti-national and anti-social elements under the guise of tenants or domestic helpers.
An order issued by the District Magistrate states: “All landlords and property owners must submit detailed particulars of their tenants using the prescribed Declaration Form. This submission can be done in person or via registered post to the local Station House Officer (SHO) within one week from the issuance of the order.”
“Owners who have already rented out properties prior to this order must immediately provide the required tenant details to the concerned Police Station,” it added.
The order covers a
District Magistrate Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, has issued an order mandating the disclosure of tenant details by all property owners.
All landlords and property owners must submit detailed particulars of their tenants using the prescribed Declaration Form.
This submission can be done in person or via registered post to the Station House Officer within one week from the issuance of the order.
Owners who have already rented out properties must immediately provide the required tenant details to the concerned Police Station.

Each SHO in the Jammu District has been directed to maintain a separate register to keep track of tenant details.
Non-compliance with this order will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, which addresses disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant.
Given the urgency and broad applicability, this order will be disseminated through various channels, including the district website, leading newspapers, and notice boards at prominent public offices across the Jammu District.
This preventive measure underscores the administration's commitment to maintaining public safety and addressing potential security threats proactively.
For further details and the Declaration Form, property owners are advised to visit the official district website or contact their local Police Station.
