JK Election Deptt conducts awareness program under SVEEP at Govt MAM College

JAMMU, Aug 30: In a spirited effort to boost awareness among the electorates and the participation of youth in forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024, the Election Department on Friday organised an awareness program at Government MAM PG College, Jammu under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
Akther Hussain Qazi, Nodal officer of SVEEP was the Chief Guest and Sapna Kotwal, Nodal Officer for Media was the Guest of Honour at the program.
Both the officers imparted awareness which aims to strengthen the visibility, outreach, and effectiveness of SVEEP activities across the J&K Union Territory.
The program also focused around the critical importance of voter participation, especially the First Time Voters among the youth.
Both the officers expressed confidence that this initiative would significantly improve the voter awareness, particularly among First Time Voters, marginalized communities, and rural areas, fostering greater inclusivity and positively contributing to the democratic process.
During the program, the Booth Level Officer (BLOs) shared and discussed the innovative ideas and strategic plans which will significantly increase the voter participation in the upcoming Assembly elections which are scheduled to be held across the UT in 3 phases commencing on 18 September, 2024.
The BLOs also assured to take actionable steps to engage and motivate the electorates for maximum participation in the biggest democratic exercise in J&K.
Among others present on the occasion were Prof. Dr. B B Anand, Principal Government MAM PG College, Jammu, Prof. Lukesha Dubgotra, Dr Jeevan Dhar, Dr Kailash Sharma, Dr Sanjay Samyal and others.
