5 Day Skill Development Programme started by KVK Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Sept 9: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar today started 5 days skill development programme on Mushroom Cultivation for rural youth at Govt. Degree College Chatroo under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme was attended by 50 rural youth. Principal GDC Kishtwar Prof(Dr) Ved Kumar was the Chief Guest during the inaugural function of the programme. The event also witnessed the presence of faculty members as well as all the students of the college. Prof. M. M. Mattoo carried on proceedings of the programme.
The Skill Development Programme aims to equip the students with hands-on training in mushroom cultivation techniques, fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance. The five-day programme will include practical sessions, expert talks, and field demonstrations, offering participants an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about various aspects of mushroom cultivation.
Dr. Narinder Paul, Incharge Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kishtwar in his technical lecture, emphasized the significance of mushroom cultivation as a sustainable agricultural practice. He highlighted its potential for income generation, food security, and its role in organic farming systems.
Arun Kumar Sharma from Zonal Agriculture Office Chatroo emphasized on registration of participants on Daksh Kissan Potal for course on mushroom production and take benefit of the self learning module of the department.
Prof (Dr) Ved Kumar Principal of GDC Chatroo lauded the efforts of KVK Kishtwar for valuable contribution and encouraging the students to actively participate in innovative initiatives, which align with the institution’s goal of promoting skill-based education.
The technical session on the first day concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Vikram Rathore who also emphasized on how mushroom cultivation is an ideal practice for non-land farmers, highlighting its accessibility and economic viability even for those without traditional farming land.
