Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 25: In a groundbreaking initiative, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) J&K conducted its first-ever virtual First Aid Awareness Program for the students of Foundation World School, Budgam on 25th September 2024. This marks a significant step in utilizing modern technology to deliver essential health education to students, especially in remote regions. The virtual session aimed to educate students on the fundamentals of first aid, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively to medical emergencies. Topics covered included handling common injuries, CPR techniques, managing fractures, burns, and bleeding, as well as basic life-saving practices. The program emphasized the importance of staying calm and acting quickly in critical situations. The practical and theoretical aspects of first aid were presented by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma, Medical Officer, along with Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup. Pharmacist, and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS J&K. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students who engaged with the trainers through the virtual platform, asking questions and seeking clarity on various emergency scenarios. Teachers and school authorities praised the Indian Red Cross Society for making vital health education accessible to students in remote areas like Budgam. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary of IRCS J&K, remarked, "The virtual format allows us to reach students in underserved regions where physical presence is often a challenge. We are committed to ensuring that our youth are equipped with essential first aid knowledge, which can save lives in their communities." This initiative is part of a broader mission by the Indian Red Cross Society to promote health awareness and preparedness among students across Jammu & Kashmir. The organization plans to continue similar programs in other districts, ensuring that students across the region have access to crucial health and safety education.
