BLSKS organized workshop on “Duggar Folk Culture”

JAMMU, Oct 9: To celebrate Navratra Festival & to promote the rich traditional culture of J&K & Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organized workshop cum rehearsal on Duggar Folk Culture title "Sanskrit Mahaostav 2024" under its 464th Wednesday series Musical Play " Sada Virsa" at Durga Bhawan Jammu in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India , National College of Computer Education , Janipur Jammu & Sangam Tru Art Production for Promotion of dying culture of J&K. The programe was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Sh.V.K.Magotra, former regional director, directorate of field publicity , Government of India, Dr. Tara Singh Charak , Former Deputy Director ,J&K Health Department, Mukesh Singh , Renowned Media Person J&K were the Guest of Honor .BLSKS artistes participated as folk theatre experts of various forms of J&K. Magotra informed that the work shop on Duggar culture, first of its kind to preserve the rich culture of J& K organised by staging plays of all parts of the state to generate awareness among the masses about eradiction of various social evils through theatre/drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest lauding the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan-(NGO) and underlined the importance of staging such plays and workshops . Dr.Tara Singh Charak , Former Deputy Director ,J&K Health Department, also spoke on the subject and also urged the artists/cultural organizations to contribute in enriching awareness of the cultural heritage of the country and inspiring the younger generation to follow the footprints of their elders in preserving the composite culture of the Nation. Jammu, the land of the Dogras also called as Duggar is rich in it's heritage in terms of it's unique culture comprising of the various components from the time immemorial. the Duggar is not only world famous for the matchless bravery, boldness and valour of it's people but also for it's historical and uninterrupted cultural flow exposed in the firm of the folklores, rituals, customs, lifestyle, folk arts, folk dances and folk -literature transmitted orally from one generation to the next. Leaders of Various Folk groups participated during workshop and five experts of folk theater gave tips on Folk Theatre. The main presentation of the Sanskriti Mahaostav will be on 11th oct 2024 at Jia Pota Ghat Akhnoor and 15th Oct 2024 at Shub International School Akhnoor.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. M L Dogra , Chairman BLSKS expressed her happiness to organize SANSKRITI MOHOSTAV at Akhnoor , popularly known as Virat Nagri in the ancient times, finds a place of pride in the history for its splendor, antiquity and historical importance, whereas, the Jia Pota Ghat on the right bank of river Chandrabhaga is the crowning glory of this beautiful ancient town. Historical facts of this ancient town revealed that Jia Pota Ghat is one of many ghats situated on the right bank of Chenab river which has a great significance.
Welcoming the dignitaries M.C.Kotwal, Secty BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme which have been assigned to the Sansthan for betterment of society, in his key note address highlighted the importantnce of programe . The singers, musician and actors who performed were Usha Handoo, Zulekha Bano , Rajni Gupta, Raju Bajgal, K.K. Joshi, Chahat Chadha, Bindia Okheda, Sahil Gill, Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi. Rahul Kumar, Vijay Verma, Varsha Kumari, Sakshi sharma, Janvi Sharma, Anjana Sharma, Afroz Aalam, Sant Dass. This workshop coordinator Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
