GDC Vijaypur organizes induction programme for fresher students

VIJAYPUR, Oct 9: Govt. Degree College Vijaypur organises Students Induction Programme for the fresher students of B.A/B.Com/B.Sc. Sem-I for the session 2024-25. The event was meticulously designed to help new students acclimate to their academic and social environment. Induction programs are important for helping new students acclimate to college life and essential information about academics, campus resources, extracurricular activities, and more.
The program started with formal welcome address by Prof. Mamta Gupta, HOD of Commerce of the college. The Induction Program formally began with making the students aware about what is 'Deeksharambh' and why it is organised, focussing on the need and importance of it. It was discussed what role an institution plays in making the students familiar with the functioning of the college and helping them overcome the challenges they face as they enter higher education from school education. She further, addressed the freshers and shared how college can help them in adapting to the new environment of the college. It was followed by introduction to NEP and Four-Year Undergraduate Degree Program (FYUGP). She introduced the students to the FYUGP course structure and told the students about structure and courses they will be studying in their undergraduate degree program. Heads of different departments and faculty members were introduced to the students.
Worthy Principal of the College, Dr. Vandana Verma formally welcomed the new entrants to the College. In her address, she shared her insights of the induction program. Her perspective can really help set the tone for the incoming students.She advised the students to have clear goals in their minds regarding what they want to achieve in their lives and to work whole heartedly and with full dedication to achieve those goals. She further impressed upon the students that by following discipline in the domain of education in particular and life in general they can turn their dreams into reality.
The event was carried out with full support of the senior faculty members Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science) and Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). It was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography).
