Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 9: IMS Jammu hosted a memorable induction event, 'ARAMBH'24', welcoming the incoming BBA and BCA Semester 1 students. The day commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting, where Bhanu Pratap Singh, Branch Manager of SBI Cap Securities Ltd., Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Director IMS, and Prof. J.R. Dhotra, Senior Professor IMS, graced the stage, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the beginning of a new academic journey.
The highlight of the event was an insightful session by Mr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, who drew upon his nine years of experience in the financial markets. His talk captivated the audience as he explored the significance of the Indian stock market. Mr. Singh emphasized the critical role stock markets play in the economy and outlined the numerous career opportunities available to students, from brokering to asset management. He detailed the market's key participants and traced the growth of the Nifty 50 over the past 15 years, offering valuable insights into the broader trends shaping India's financial landscape. His discussion on the evolving patterns of the Indian economy further inspired students to consider stock market careers as a viable and exciting path.
Following this, Er. Divya Jamwal, Coordinator of the Management Department, led an engaging session on entrepreneurship. She focused on the essential skills and mindset needed to thrive as an entrepreneur, encouraging students to embrace confidence, persistence, and goal setting. She also highlighted the rewards of entrepreneurship, such as the independence of being one's own boss and the satisfaction of doing something you love.
Adding a lively twist to the day, Era Sharma conducted a fun and interactive activity called "Know Thy Partner." In this ice-breaking session, students paired up and took turns introducing themselves, fostering a sense of camaraderie and helping them form early bonds with their peers.
Sheetal Sharma, Coordinator of the Computer Science Department, then briefed the students on the institution's anti-ragging norms and the importance of maintaining discipline, ensuring a respectful and safe campus environment.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. J.R. Dhotra, who underscored the importance of holistic education and personal development. A vote of thanks was delivered by Er. Divya Jamwal, expressing gratitude to all participants and guests. As a token of appreciation, Bhanu Pratap Singh was presented with a memento for his invaluable contribution to the day's program, marking the end of an enlightening and engaging start to the academic year.
