Indian Red Cross Society, celebrates International Day of Girl Child

JAMMU, Oct 11: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K-UT under the leadership of Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha (Hon'ble President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K celebrated International Day of the Girl Child today on 11th October, 2024, at Govt. Girls High School, Toph Sherkhanian, Jammu. This event was organized to highlight the importance of empowering girls, promoting gender equality, and addressing the challenges faced by girl children in society.
The programme featured various activities aimed at promoting awareness about the rights of girls and advocating for their education, health, and well-being. The event included educational sessions on gender equality, menstrual hygiene and discussions on ways to ensure that girls have access to opportunities that enable them to thrive. Free Medical Health Check-up including HB, Blood grouping, General Body check-up, etc. was also done in Mobile Testing Unit and free Sanitary Napkins were also distributed among the girls.
The principal of the school appreciated the efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K in promoting the welfare of the girl child and emphasized the need for collective action to eliminate gender-based discrimination. She also encouraged the students present to believe in their potential and pursue their dreams fearlessly.
Through this initiative, the IRCS J&K continues its mission to serve the most vulnerable sections of society and is committed to fostering a future where every girl can realize her rights and contribute to the nation's progress.
