NCC Cadets Experience Wonders of Night Sky in Nagrota

Nagrota, Oct 11: In a captivating event, 500 NCC cadets from the Jammu & Kashmir Directorate were awestruck as they observed the night sky through telescopic sights. The celestial cum heavenly bodies of Milkyway Galaxy was observed through telescope and constellations like Ursa Major and Ursa Minor were observed through Lazer light show. Moon & Jupiter were also seen by the cadets which enriched their mind with eagerness to know more about the heavenly bodies present in the sky. This extraordinary session was organised by Third Officer Tajinder Singh of the 5 J&K Battalion NCC, Poonch also spearheading the plantation drive as District Nodal Officer Eco Club in Poonch and has till date been instrumental in planting more than 40,000 trees in the past few months through various programmes initiated by Central and State Government.
The cadets are currently participating in a Combined Annual Training Camp from October 4 to 13, 2024, at the NCC Training Academy in Nagrota. This comprehensive program includes a wide array of specialised training designed to enhance their skills and foster teamwork.
Participants have engaged in painstaking training led by the Anti-Narcotics Department, Fire Fighting Department, Cyber Security Department and State Disaster Relief Force as well as social service and cultural activities. Additional training sessions encompass shooting simulation, .22 Rifle Shooting, drill practices, and various games and sports. The program also emphasises on yoga and military-style physical fitness regime including correct technique driven, negotiation of the obstacle course, instilling discipline and camaraderie among the cadets. This unique blend of activities not only equips the cadets with essential life skills but also enriches their NCC experience, preparing them for future challenges. The noteworthy and high level of dedicated training has been organised as a team by the Officers, JCOs and PI Staff & Associate NCC Officers of Jammu Group, namely Vinod Bakshi- the Camp Adjutant, Mumtaz Ahmed, Kajal Sharma, Anamika Jamwal, Shafia Saleem, Shivani Sharma, Ajay Shamra, Rajeshwar Singh and Girl Cadet Instructors Danya M and PGR Manyula. The office and support staff also plays an equally important role in organising such a massive training event by their meticulous and painstaking maintenance of the indoor & outdoor infrastructure, documentation and arrangements for cooking and serving nutritious, healthy and delicious food.
