Jammu, Oct 21: In alignment with the Government of India’s commitment to building a drug-free society, JKSPYM SLCA J&K, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (NISD) and the district administration of Jammu, conducted a one-day training program for Master Volunteers of Jammu district.
The event, held at Roop Nagar, Jammu, was a part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), a national campaign to curb substance abuse.
Mrs. Mamta Rajput, District Social Welfare Officer of Jammu, graced the event as the chief guest. Addressing the participants, she expressed deep concern over the growing issue of substance abuse among the youth in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. She urged the master volunteers to fully absorb the training provided and utilize the knowledge to combat this menace in their communities.
Ms. Pallavi Singh, Program Director at JKSPYM, opened the event with a welcome note and introduced the roles of JKSPYM and SLCA J&K. Approximately 55 master volunteers were trained through the program, which was designed to provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle substance abuse and promote drug demand reduction in their respective districts.
The training program featured four key sessions:
1. Information on Drugs, Drug Use, and Its Consequences
2. District Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan
3. Intervention Spectrum in Drug Treatment and Prevention
4. Roles and Responsibilities of Master Volunteers and Nasha Mukt Bharat Leaders
Each session included presentations, interactive discussions, role-playing activities, and group exercises, making the program dynamic and engaging. Resource persons from SLCA J&K provided detailed insights into the drug abuse situation in India, focusing on its impact and prevention strategies.
The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, acknowledging the efforts of the master volunteers who will now play a pivotal role in leading the fight against substance abuse in Jammu district.
