BMS Donates water cooler for labourers at labour office Jammu

Jammu, Oct 21: Today on this 21st day of October 2024, Labour Commissioner, J&K Govt., vis S. Charandeep Singh JKAS, chaired an interaction programme at Labour Sarai Complex Dogra Hall Rehari Jammu with the various labour Unions and their representative such as Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, Marble Workers Union, Bhawan Nirman Workers Union and ASCOMS Employees Welfare Association with regard to various issues pertaining to Labour.
The Labour Commissioner, also held an interaction with press and media regarding various burning issues like close day, workers rights, safety and health of workers and future plans of the Department for upliftment of the working conditions of workforce in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Labour Commissioner also inaugurated the installation of Water Cooler in the premises of Assistant Labour Commissioner office donated by Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh in the memory of Late Sardar Laxman Raviinder Singh Founder of BMS J&K who started BMS work in Jammu Kashmir in 1976 and worked for the welfare of poor working class till 13 September 2019 BMS high lighted the burning issue of workers. The following issues were raised by the representatives of the unions:-
The re-constitution of Un-organized sector Workers Welfare Board and meetings thereof.
Exemption with respect to mandatory requirement of Ayushman card in Welfare Scheme under BOCCW in the case of unorganized workers.
Compensation to the workers killed in the course of employment in the target killing incidents at various places in Jammu and Kashmir in general and at Ganderbal in particular.
Under JKBOCWWB bank accounts other than J&K Bank be also accepted the workers those who have already bank accounts of with other nationalized banks,
Shop and establishment Act be implemented strictly and the workers those who work in Shops and malls etc so that they may get weekly rest and extra compensation for 10-12 `hours duty .
The Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh and other Unions welcome the initiative taken by the worthy Labour Commissioner in the interest of working class particularly the initiative of Close day under shops and Establishments. It was decided by the unions to submit a formal memorandum to the Labour Commissioner for consideration which the Labour Commissioner agreed in principal. The interaction programme was attended by a sizeable gathering, besides Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Inspector of Factories Jammu, Labour Officers/Labour Inspectors and staff of the above offices
