JAMMU, Oct 21: The NSS unit "Veerangana" and IQAC of Govt. College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, in collaboration with Rotary Club Jammu, organized an informative lecture on Dental Hygiene aimed at raising awareness about oral health. The event, held under the patronage of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college, was part of a larger initiative focusing on women's health, including upcoming programs on menstrual hygiene and basic women hygiene.
In her address, Dr. Meeru Abrol emphasized that maintaining good dental hygiene is essential not only for a beautiful smile but also for overall health. She highlighted the importance of equipping students with the necessary knowledge to prevent common dental problems and maintain oral health throughout their lives.
The resource persons for the event, Dr. Tanishdeep Kour and Dr. Urvashi Chopra from Rotary Club Jammu, provided valuable insights into maintaining good oral hygiene. Their lecture covered essential topics such as proper brushing and flossing techniques, the importance of regular dental check-ups, early signs of dental issues like cavities and gum disease, and the connection between oral health and overall well-being.
Participants also had the opportunity to receive free dental check-ups, which included a visual examination, basic cleaning, and personalized advice on how to improve their dental health. Many students took advantage of the free check-ups and received follow-up treatment advice. Free dental kits were distributed among the attendees to encourage good oral care practices.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Preeti Salathia, NSS Programme Officer, and attended by Sh. Balwinder Singh, President of Rotary Club, Smt. Anamika, General Secretary, Dr. Ranjeet Jamwal, Project Director, and other dignitaries. The program was a success in promoting awareness about dental hygiene and overall health within the community.
