Training cum distribution programme under HADP project

JAMMU, Nov 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu under able guidance of Prof. Dr. B.N. Tripati, Honable Vice Chancellor of the University, conducted training cum awareness programme under HADP project entitled "Promotion of Niche Crops "Anardana" at Panchayat, Banwat, Poonch and the programme was attended by 50 farm men and women of the different village of panchayat. At the outset, Dr. Parshant Bakhshi Prof and Head, Division of Fruit Sciences and Project Investigator of the project welcome the farmers with the detailed overview of the training cum awareness programme through online mode. He highlighted the significance of the annardana cultivation and said that the training cum demonstration programe was conducted for cultivation of annardana on scientific lines to enhance the nutritional and livelihood security of the farming community. Dr Bakshi assured full support to the farmers of the district under the HADP project in terms of quality planting material and scientific technological interventions, as and when needed.
While speaking on the technological interventions in the annardana farming, Dr. Muzafar Mir, Scientist Fruit Science and Co-Pi of the project highlighted the importance of the training programme. During the programme, the participants were well acquainted with the scientific cultivation (planting, management, disease and pest incidence, harvesting, marketing etc.,) of annardana in district poonch. The farmer's shows enthusiasm towards the training cum awareness programme and desired more such programmes in future should be conducted in their villages, however, the organizers assured them to conduct more such beneficial programmes for the betterment of the farming community. During the training programme, elite planting material generated in the project at KVK Poonch, SKUAST-Jammu were distributed among the beneficiaries and the demonstrations were conducted by planting some anardana plants at the farmer's field.
While interacted with the farmers during the programme, some important queries were raised by the farming community, regarding the farming of annardana at commercial level, however the same were responded on-spot during the programme. The program was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Zahid, Senior Research Fellow of the project.
