NIA raids three locations in Poonch, Surankote in terror funding probe
3/12/2026 10:43:00 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 12: As part of its ongoing crackdown on terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out simultaneous raids at three locations in the border district of Poonch in connection with a suspected terrorist conspiracy and funding case.
The early-morning operation targeted areas in Surankote and Poonch town, particularly Mohalla Khodinad and Hadi, where investigators suspect links to a terror network operating in the region. Officials said the searches were part of an ongoing probe into alleged terror financing and logistical support being extended to militant groups.
According to reports, NIA teams, assisted by the district administration, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Poonch Police, launched coordinated search operations at around 5 a.m. The teams cordoned off the identified houses and conducted detailed searches and questioning that lasted for nearly five hours.
Investigators examined several documents and digital devices during the raids as part of efforts to gather evidence related to financial transactions, communication records, and other material suspected to be linked to anti-national activities.
Sources said the teams scrutinised mobile phones, laptops, bank records, and other documents that could provide clues about possible terror funding channels and links with militant organisations.
The searches were conducted at the residences of Abdul Aziz, son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Hadi in Surankote; Munawar Hussain, son of Roshan Din, also from Hadi Surankote; and Firoz Din, son of Ghulam Din, a resident of Hadi Surankote who currently resides in Mohalla Khodinad in Poonch town.
Officials said Firoz Din is a retired government employee who had earlier been posted at the Line of Control (LoC) at Chakka Da Bagh during the period when cross-LoC trade between India and Pakistan was operational.
The NIA has seized several materials from the premises, and further investigation in the case is underway.
