JAMMU, Dec 9: As part of the commitment to foster a culture of inclusivity and respect, the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Monday held an awareness programme on strengthening the workplace safety for women.
The awareness program was aimed at educating the employees about the strict laws in place to safeguard the women at their workplaces and encourage the female employees not to tolerate any kind of harassment or disrespect.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Director JKEDI emphasized on the importance of educating the employees with respect to raising voice against any kind of harassment, abuse or unjust behaviour at their workplaces. He stressed on the awareness regarding the She-Box Portal launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, a comprehensive online management system for women to report sexual harassment at the workplace. He underlined the importance of such programmes at district levels so that the awareness regarding the rights of the women is highlighted at all levels. The Director encouraged the female employees not to hesitate in making use of the SHe-Box portal, whenever required and no social taboo be associated with raising voice against any kind of harassment at the work place.
"Everyone is supposed to ensure equality in real sense with respect to the male and female employees at your respective workplaces and no irritating behaviour shall be tolerated," the Director told the employees.
