“Thankless” Congress forgets Madan Lal Sharma on his fourth death anniversary

Jammu, Dec 9: While as many social and religious organizations paid tributes to former minister and two-time Lok Sabha member Madan Lal Sharma on his fourth death anniversary, the Jammu-based Congress leaders could not spare time from their busy schedule for the great leader. Monday was the fourth death anniversary of the late Madan Lal Sharma, who was a prominent Congress leader and political stalwart of the Jammu region.
Lata Madan Lal Sharma played very important role in the formation of Congress’s coalition government with PDP in the year 2002. It was all due to the efforts and hard work of late Madan Lal Sharma that Congress emerged as a force in Jammu province during the 2002 Assembly elections when BJP managed to win only one Assembly seat.
It was the result of the popularity of Madan Lal Sharma that he won two successive Lok Sabha elections in the year 2004 and 2009 from the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency.
Four years after his demise, the “thankless” Congress leadership forgot a political stalwart who played a very important role in the growth of the party in Jammu
Late Madan Lal Sharma played a very important role in the rise of the Congress party in the Jammu region.
He won two successive Lok Sabha elections in 2004 and 2009 from the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency.
Instead of recognizing his contribution the party leadership denied a mandate to his son Satish Sharma.
Satish Sharma contested the election as an Independent candidate and emerged victorious.

Instead of recognizing the contribution of the late Madan Lal Sharma in strengthening the party in the Jammu region, the party leadership denied the mandate to his son Satish Sharma from the Chhamb assembly segment. After denying party, Satish Sharma contested the election as an Independent candidate and emerged victorious by defeating former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and BJP candidate Rajiv Sharma.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, today paid rich tributes to Madan Lal Sharma, former Minister and Parliamentarian on his 4th death anniversary here today.
While recalling the immense contribution of the departed leader, the Deputy Chief Minister said his role in the socio-political sphere of Jammu was visionary. He said that the late leader always stood for ensuring the development of the region and projected the cause of every section of the society, without any preference.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said that we should also strive to further the political ideology and the vision of the late leader.
