Early Times Report KATHUA, Dec 14: The Department of Physics at Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua, organized a one-day hands-on training workshop on space science instruments for undergraduate Physics students. This initiative aligns with the New Education Policy (NEP-2020) and was conducted at the Model Astrophysics Lab, an IIT Kanpur-supported facility located at GHSS, Kharote, Kathua. The workshop aimed to provide practical exposure to space research technologies, allowing students to work with telescopes, satellite models, and other space science instruments. The event was designed in collaboration with Mr. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Project Engineer at the Model Astrophysics Lab, and the GDC Kathua Physics Department, led by Dr. Dinesh Jasrotia. Prof. Seema Mir, Principal of GDC Kathua, commended the students for their active participation and emphasized the importance of skill-based training in bridging theoretical knowledge and practical applications in Physics and space sciences. The event was coordinated by Dr. Daya Ram and featured insights from faculty members, including Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Dr. Ahsan Elahi, Prof. Ajay Sharma, and Dr. Gopal Sharma. Prof. Ravinder Kour, IQAC Coordinator, and Pritam Dass, Principal of GHSS Kharote, oversaw the workshop's technical and logistical aspects. This workshop serves as a significant step in fostering innovation and hands-on learning among Physics students in the region. |
