1/12/2025 9:21:30 PM
Early Times Report

Gulmarg, Jan 12: Ahead of Z-Morh tunnel inauguration, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that Sonamarg is all set to become a winter sports destination.
Talking to the reporters here in North Kashmir, Omar said, “Tomorrow PM Modi will inaugurate the Z-Morh tunnel. It will provide all weather connectivity to Sonamarg and turn it into a winter sports destination.”
He said, "All arrangements are being put in place in connection with PM Modi's visit to Kashmir tomorrow."
Omar said. “I will try my best to ensure that in the next 5-years Sonamarg also becomes like Gulmarg and becomes another skiing destination in Kashmir.”
He said that tourism is the backbone of J&K’s economy. “More tourists mean more earning for people. I have come to Gulmarg to record a program so that it helps in its promotion.”
Describing Gulmarg as the best winter sports destination in the country, Omar said, “It’s easily accessible to all and skiers love to come here.”
Pertinently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District on Monday to inaugurate the 6.5 km long Z-Morh tunnel.
