Jammu, Jan 12: A war of words erupted on Saturday between the ruling National Conference (NC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir, following a social media post by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The post, which highlighted preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Sonamarg to inaugurate the Z-Morh tunnel, ignited a heated debate online.
Omar Abdullah tweeted about his review of the arrangements for Modi’s visit, which is scheduled for Monday. The Z-Morh tunnel, a vital infrastructure project, will facilitate year-round access to the scenic Sonamarg valley, transforming it into a sought-after ski destination.
Additionally, the tunnel is expected to reduce travel time between Srinagar and Kargil/Leh, bringing economic and logistical benefits to the region.

While the Chief Minister’s post primarily aimed to showcase the developmental initiatives under his administration, it was met with sarcasm from PDP leaders. Wahid-ur-Rehman Parra, the youth wing leader of the PDP and MLA from Pulwama, taunted Abdullah by tagging him as a "Good-Boy" on social media. The comment insinuated that Omar Abdullah was seeking approval from the central government.

The political undertones of the tunnel inauguration also drew attention. With Prime Minister Modi set to preside over the event, both the NC and PDP are keenly aware of the implications of this developmental milestone.
The Z-Morh tunnel, which promises to boost tourism, enhance connectivity, and improve the livelihoods of the local population, has become a symbolic achievement that both parties want to claim credit for.
As the political drama unfolds, the spotlight remains on the Monday inauguration, which is expected to draw significant public and media attention. While the Z-Morh tunnel represents progress for the region, the ongoing exchange between the NC and PDP underscores the charged political climate in Jammu and Kashmir, where even developmental projects become battlegrounds for political supremacy.
