Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu appointed LPU Vice Chancellor

JALANDHAR, Feb 4: Jalandhar, Professor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu has assumed the role of Vice Chancellor at Lovely Professional University (LPU), bringing with him 35 years of remarkable experience. His career is marked by groundbreaking contributions to sports medicine, research, and policy-making, along with a strong track record in academia and leadership.
Dr. Sandhu has held several key leadership roles, including Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC). During his tenure at UGC, he also served as the Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and contributed to the governing bodies of multiple national and international educational organizations, such as the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), and UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research. He is serving as Advisor (Higher Education) to the Hon'ble Governor of Punjab.
Dr. Sandhu, upon stepping into the role of Vice Chancellor at LPU, shared, 'LPU has already established itself as a leader in higher education, and my vision is to build on this strong foundation. I aim to further enhance the University's legacy of academic excellence, promote innovation, and encourage interdisciplinary learning. My focus will be on expanding LPU's global presence, boosting research capabilities, and ensuring an enriching, transformative educational experience for all students.
Dr. Sandhu is a highly accomplished academician and a renowned expert in the field of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He is a gold medalist graduate in medicine from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Dr. Sandhu further pursued his postgraduate studies in Sports Medicine at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala, where he was recognized as the university topper. With around 250 publications in national and international journals, his research contributions are widely recognized in the academic community.
