To corner NC, Congress launches statehood restoration campaign

Jammu, Feb 13: Although J&K Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra avoided naming the ruling National Conference for not aggressively taking up the issue of the restoration of statehood, the decision of the party to launch 15-day launch campaign in an indication that the grand old party is going to mount pressure of its coalition partner National Conference.
Today Kara formally launched a 15-day-long “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” campaign from Udhampur and while launching the campaign, the J&K Congress chief launched a veiled attack on the National Conference for delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources in Congress said that the party has decided to aggressively launched this campaign to corner both the BJP and the National Conference.
“It is now an open secret that differences cropped up between the National Conference and the Congress after the recent statements of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on EVMs, Delhi Assembly polls, and leadership of the INDIA bloc”, a senior Congress leader told The Early Times, adding, “alliance is only of the name and in a real sense our party has been sidelined”.

Meanwhile, according to an official handout issued by the party, Karra today launched a scathing attack on BJP accusing it of insulting Dogra rulers and hurting Dogras by downgrading the historical state, having 175 years of Dogra identity and dynasty.
Karra asked workers to strengthen the movement for getting back our historical state and powers to their elected representatives & elected government for the resolution of the peoples' issues and day today problems.
Karra hit out BJP for downgrading a historical Dogra state into Union Territory. “For the first time in the history of the nation, a state was downgraded by disrespecting the constitution and founders of this state”, Karra said.
