LPU hosts AICTE ATAL FDP on high-performance computing

JALANDHAR, Feb 18: Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted a six-day Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "High-Performance Computing (HPC): Foundations, Parallel Programming, and GPU Acceleration," sponsored by AICTE ATAL. The program, which attracted 115 participants from various institutions across India, offered comprehensive insights into the latest advancements in the field of HPC and its practical applications.
The event was coordinated by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor, and COD Department of Corporate Training, HRDC, LPU, and co-coordinated by Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor and Dean of HRDC, LPU. In the inaugural address, Dr. Ahuja expressed heartfelt gratitude to AICTE for providing the opportunity to LPU to host this prestigious program.
The program featured distinguished experts from both academia and industry, including Seetharaman Venkatraman, Executive Director at Nomura, Gagan Sharma, Head of Informatics at the Melbourne Brain Centre, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia, Dr. Saurav Nanda, AI Senior Architect at Synopsys, USA, Palvinder Singh, Founder & CEO of Secuneus Tech, Sanchit Singla, Solution Advisor at SaS, Awadhesh Shukla, Lead Consultant at Quick Heal, and Pushpendra Kumar Pateriya, Assistant Professor at LPU.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in in-depth sessions that covered a wide range of HPC topics, including the components of HPC systems, parallel computing models, MPI programming, and CUDA architecture. The FDP also included interactive hands-on exercises, case studies, and quizzes to foster practical learning, ensuring participants gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The program concluded with a valedictory session, during which the coordinators thanked all participants and resource persons for their valuable contributions and highlighted the collaborative efforts that made the program a success. The participants praised the initiative taken by LPU's HRDC and expressed their appreciation for the expert-led sessions, which provided valuable insights into both the theoretical and practical applications.
