Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 9: A day after the brutal killing of three civilians, including a minor, in the Billawar area of Kathua district, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a comprehensive security review with the top officers of central armed forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies.
The high-level meeting, held at the Convention Centre on Canal Road, was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, J&K Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, and senior officials from various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies.
According to officials, the meeting not only assessed the prevailing security situation but also reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and security measures for the direct train to Srinagar.
Senior officers from the BSF, CRPF, SSB, RPF, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) were also present.
Discussions included ongoing counter-terror operations in the upper reaches of Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Rajouri, and Poonch, aimed at neutralizing terrorist threats in these sensitive areas.

ry. His first review meeting was held in Srinagar in December last year.
The Home Secretary’s visit comes in the wake of the recovery of three missing civilians' bodies from a water channel in the Bani-Billawar area of Kathua. The victims—identified as Yogesh (32), Darshan (40), and Varun (14)—were reportedly cousins and had been missing for over 60 hours. They were part of a marriage party when they disappeared. The victims were reportedly killed by the terrorists.
It's in place to mention here that this year alone, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has conducted three back-to-back security review meetings in Delhi on February 4, 5, and 11.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) Daljit Singh Chawdhary also reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch on Saturday. During his two-day visit to the Jammu frontier, he inspected operational readiness at the LoC and was briefed by field commanders. Additionally, he visited border areas in Kathua district along the International Border, where sector commanders provided insights into critical security aspects.
As security forces continue their counter-terror operations, authorities remain vigilant to prevent further attempts to disrupt peace in the region.
