LUCKNOW, Mar 26: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that public satisfaction is the greatest achievement of a government in a democracy, highlighting the unprecedented progress in UP over the past eight years.
Speaking on a news agency podcast, he discussed key milestones, including Maha Kumbh's success and the state's $1 trillion economy goal for 2029.
"The overwhelming public support bears testimony to the historic progress made in Uttar Pradesh over the past eight years. People's satisfaction is a key achievement," he remarked.
On BJP's third term in the state, he noted that securing public trust twice in a row is a significant feat and affirmed the party's commitment to forming the government again, stating that any BJP worker can become the Chief Minister.
Speaking on Maha Kumbh, CM Yogi Adityanath said that only those who witnessed it can truly understand its scale. "With over 66 crore devotees attending, there was not a single case of robbery, molestation, extortion, or kidnapping", he asserted.
He highlighted that today, women and girls feel safe, unlike before 2017 when parents sent their children to distant relatives for schooling. Notably, 50,000 to 1 lakh devotees arrived daily from West Bengal.
Calling it 'Mrityunjay Maha Kumbh,' he assured that a Judicial Commission is investigating the Maha Kumbh accident, and further action will follow based on its findings.
Speaking on festivals in Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi highlighted that the state was the first to regulate loudspeakers at religious places as per Supreme Court guidelines. He emphasized respect during Holi, stating that while there were strict instructions against throwing colors on unwilling participants, minor incidents should not be overblown.
He noted that many Muslims also celebrated Holi, citing Shahjahanpur's tradition of a Nawab Saheb tableau. On Muslim participation in Kumbh, he reiterated that everyone was welcome but emphasized that a negative mindset would not be accepted. Marking eight years in office, CM Yogi noted that despite three years being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, his government has achieved twice the progress made in the past 70 years. He emphasized Uttar Pradesh's natural and divine blessings and the need to accelerate growth, setting a target to make UP a $1 trillion economy by 2029 and a leading force in India's economy. Additionally, he addressed various contemporary issues with transparency.
