2 houses of drug peddler attached

SRINAGAR, Mar 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached two double storied residential houses of an alleged drug peddler in Kulgam district.
The properties worth more than Rs 1.5 crores belonging to drug peddler Reyaz Ahmad Ganie resident of Nassu Badragund, Qazigund were attached under the provisions of section 68 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, police said.
Police said Ganie, a repeat offender, has multiple cases registered against him, including FIR No. 310/2015 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act and FIR No. 103/2024 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act at Police Station Qazigund.
He is currently lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu, under the PIT NDPS Act. His brother, Bilal Ahmad Ganie, also faces charges under FIR No. 64/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act, after authorities recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics from him, police said
As per Sections 68E and 68F of the NDPS Act, the attached properties cannot be transferred, sold, or dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority, police said.
