4/3/2025 10:38:26 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 3: In a significant step towards addressing the growing concern of drug abuse, the Municipal Committee Ghou Manhasa organized a Drug Awareness Program to educate the community, especially the youth, about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of a drug-free society.
The event witnessed the participation of Tehsildar Marh, SDPO Domana, NT Ghou Manhasa, IC BPP Gajansoo, IC BPP Sandwan, Principal of GHSS Ghou Manhasa, officers from the Medical and Revenue Departments, police personnel, and various civil society members.
A major highlight of the event was a skit performed by students of GHSS Ghou Manhasa, portraying the tragic consequences of drug addiction on individuals and families. The thought-provoking performance left a lasting impression on the audience, reinforcing the urgency to combat substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering, officials from law enforcement agencies stressed the importance of strict action against drug peddlers and assured continuous efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in the region. They urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities for immediate action.
Medical professionals provided insights into the physical and psychological effects of drug addiction, while officials from the Revenue and Municipal departments discussed the government's role in tackling the issue through policy measures and public initiatives. Educators and civil society representatives emphasized the need for awareness, early intervention, and community involvement in protecting the younger generation from falling into the trap of drug abuse.
The program concluded with an interactive session, where participants took a pledge to contribute towards a drug-free society and spread awareness within their communities. The initiative served as a call to action for families, educators, and authorities to work collectively in curbing the menace of drug abuse.
With continued efforts from law enforcement, government agencies, educators, and the public, such awareness programs play a crucial role in fostering a healthier and safer environment for the youth, ensuring they make informed and responsible life choices.
