BLSKS celebrates World Heritage Day at Jhiri

JAMMU, Apr 18: To celebrates the "International Day for Monuments and Sites" & to aware the masses about Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan & promote the Traditional culture of J&K , Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan performed 489th Friday Series Dogri Musical Play "Sadi Barast & Skit Nashe Mukat Bharat" today in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment , Government of India & Social Welfare Deptt. J&K Govt. at Mayur Public School, Kalyan Pur Jhiri, District Jammu. The musical play is written and Directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra, renowned writer and Director. A pledge was also administered to more than 250 students / teachers and the certificate by the Ministry of Social Justice was presented to the Principal of the Host School. The program was inaugurated by chief guest Ram Saroop Bali , Principal, Mayur Public School, Jhiri. Among the Guest of Honors were Rajni Sharma, Mohinder Singh , Om Parkash Senior Teachers of the host school were present on the occasion . The Programe was commenced with the songs were "Nasha Na Karna - Man Lo Kehna", "Sadi Dugger Barast" , "Khand Mithe Log Dogre ", " Swatchh Bharat ka Irada kariya Humne" & the music of the play, composed by renowned music teacher Raju Bajgal. The chief guest said in his speech the World Heritage Day, also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, is celebrated on April 18 every year. Its goal is to encourage individuals and local communities to cherish their cultural heritage, Chief guest also said Baba Jitto a spiritual devotee of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. A farmer scarified his life for getting due right share of agriculture crop from Jagirdar Bir Singh who refused to give the committed share, The Jhiri Mela, an annual fair held in oct / nov in Jhiri village near Jammu, Kashmir, commemorates the story of Baba Jitto, a 16th -century Dogra farmer who sacrificed his life against injustice & appreciated the efforts of the BLSKS , organizers in making such awareness programmes colorful and effective on the theme. The program was also recorded & uploaded online on Social Media for benefit of the people.
Welcome speech was given by Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan who said Cultural heritage is a reflection of society, and its preservation is vital for maintaining cultural diversity, fostering a sense of belonging, and passing down knowledge to future generations. Cultural heritage plays a crucial role in lives and history, influencing the values, beliefs, and sense of belonging. Cultural heritage includes tangible culture , such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, archive materials, books, works of art, and artifacts. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of cultural and natural heritage and the need to preserve it for future & Dr. Dogra also said Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan, reduce the drugs withdrawal symptoms are combination of physical and mental side effects a person experiences while trying to either stop or reduce the use of the substance they have been using or addicted to. The day brings together individuals, organizations, and governments to promote the preservation of cultural heritage.
Mahesh Chander Kotwal, Secretary , BLSKS , while speaking on the occasion, laid importance of On World Heritage Day, a pledge can be a powerful way to show commitment to protecting our shared cultural and natural heritage. A common pledge includes respecting monuments, avoiding defacement or encroachment, and actively helping to preserve and conserve heritage sites. These actions can be taken at various levels, from personal commitments to collective efforts within communities and organizations. The singers , musician , actors and students of music and computer institute who performed in the musical play were Usha Raina, K K Joshi , Raju Bajgal , Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi, Zulekha Bano and many others presented the enthralled performance at last of the programe Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
