JAMMU, Apr 18: The spirit of sportsmanship and youth empowerment took center stage at the M.A.M. Stadium in Jammu as the 17th Junior National Super Seven Cricket Championship was commenced with great enthusiasm.
On the occasion, Taranjit Singh Tony, senior Congress leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh, was the Chief Guest, who declared the Championship open in presence of Charanjit Singh Raina, Convenor, Jasmeet Singh, State Coordinator, S Jatinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Varyam Singh, Upendra Singh and Ajay Sharma.
The championship is being organized by Ridhima Sports Club India in collaboration with Super Seven Cricket Federation of India which budding cricketers across the country took part, showcasing exceptional talent and team spirit.
Today match was played between Rajasthan and Andhara Pradesh. Besides, budding cricketers from J&K, NCR, Punjab, Puducherry, Delhi, U.P, Ladakh, Haryana, Madhaya Pradesh, Chandigarh and Maharashtra are also participating.
In his address, Tony emphasized the pivotal role of sports in shaping disciplined, healthy, and future-ready citizens. He commended the organizers for providing a national-level platform to young cricketers and promoting a culture of competitive sports in the region.
"Sports not only build physical stamina but also instill values like teamwork, leadership, and resilience," he remarked, adding that such championships are vital in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent.
Lauding the efforts of Ridhima Sports Club India, Tony urged government bodies and private organizations to support such initiatives that engage youth constructively and keep them away from negative influences.
Tony interacted with the players, encouraged them to pursue their dreams with dedication, and assured them of his continued support for sporting events in Jammu & Kashmir.
