Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 25: Three days following the tragic terror attack at the scenic Pahalgam resort, security forces have launched widespread search operations across the Kashmir Valley to dismantle terrorist networks and investigate connections to the recent carnage. These efforts form a critical part of a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy aimed at disrupting terror ecosystems and their support structures. The Jammu and Kashmir Police, alongside the Army and paramilitary forces, have initiated simultaneous searches across north, south, and central Kashmir. In Anantnag district, joint teams are conducting meticulous operations, focusing on residences and properties of individuals suspected of ties to terrorist organizations. These searches are executed with professionalism to minimize public disruption while prioritizing security. Authorities have called for public cooperation, encouraging citizens to share information to bolster law and order and sustain peace in the region.
In a significant move, Handwara Police conducted a well-coordinated raid in the Kulangam area, acting on intelligence linked to Case FIR No. 29/2019 under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The operation targeted the residence of Ghulam Rasool War, son of Late Asadullah War, uncovering his ongoing affiliation with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). Incriminating materials were seized in accordance with legal protocols, and investigations continue to unravel broader network connections.
In Baramulla district, a search operation at the home of Ghulam Mohammad Ganaie, son of Abdul Gani Ganie, in Khore Sheerabad, Pattan, was conducted under FIR No. 78/2024, citing violations of UAPA Sections 10 and 13, and IPC Sections 121 and 121-A. Supervised by an Executive Magistrate, the raid recovered materials linked to the proscribed Jammu & Kashmir National Front (JKNF). All items were documented as evidence, with further legal actions pending as the investigation progresses.
Responding to heightened security threats, Ganderbal Police, in collaboration with the Army, CRPF, SSB, and other forces, have intensified combing operations in suspected hideouts near forest and snow lines. A police spokesperson highlighted the robust security framework, noting that house-to-house searches and interrogations are underway. “Our multi-faceted approach is delivering results, and these operations will persist until we achieve concrete outcomes,” the spokesperson affirmed. Citizens are urged to report any activities threatening the social and economic stability of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ongoing operations reflect a determined effort to eradicate terrorism and restore stability, with security forces committed to pursuing all leads to ensure lasting peace in the region.
