Early Times Report
POONCH, May 7: In the wake of ongoing cross-border shelling that has claimed nine lives and left 33 injured, MLA Poonch, Ajaz Jan, visited the District Hospital Poonch on Tuesday to review the medical response and extend support to the victims.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, the MLA described the situation as "extremely tense" and emphasized the need for collective resilience and calm during this critical time.
"I am in constant touch with Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah and am closely monitoring the developments. The administration is on high alert and working tirelessly to ensure the safety and treatment of the injured," Jan said.
He acknowledged the swift and coordinated efforts of the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Additional SP, and the entire civil and police administration, who are actively engaged in managing the crisis on the ground.
MLA Jan also praised the medical teams led by the Chief Medical Officer, Poonch, for their relentless efforts in handling the emergency. "I express my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated doctors, nurses, and paramedics who are working round the clock to save lives under extremely difficult circumstances," he said.
He assured the residents of Poonch that he is in constant communication with local communities and will continue to stand by them throughout this ordeal.
Appealing for calm, Ajaz Jan urged all citizens to stay indoors, especially on the ground floor, to minimize risk. "Let us remain united, vigilant, and strong," he stated.
As tensions continue to escalate along the border, the local administration and political leadership remain focused on relief efforts and public safety.
