Early Times Report

Jammu, May 7: Following India's successful strikes on nine terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu- Kashmir (PoJK) under Operation Sandoor, Pakistan has resorted to a malicious disinformation campaign to mislead the public and undermine India's efforts against terrorism. The Pakistani propaganda machinery, primarily led by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has been spreading fake claims and circulating old images to fabricate narratives of military success against India.
One of the most prominent falsehoods propagated by pro-Pakistan social media handles is the claim that Pakistan shot down an Indian Rafale fighter jet near Bahawalpur during Operation Sandoor. To support this narrative, images of aircraft debris were widely shared, alleging they belonged to the downed Rafale.
However, the PIB Fact Check, an official fact-checking arm of the Government of India, has debunked these claims. In a statement, PIB Fact Check clarified:
"An #old image showing a crashed aircraft is being circulated with the claim that Pakistan recently shot down an Indian Rafale jet near Bahawalpur during the ongoing #OperationSindoor. This image is from an earlier incident involving an IAF MiG-21 fighter jet that crashed in Moga district in Punjab in 2021."
This revelation exposes Pakistan's attempt to manipulate public perception by recycling outdated visuals to create a false narrative.
Pakistan's disinformation campaign extends beyond the Rafale claim. The ISPR has been actively targeting India with baseless allegations, including:
Pakistan is also claiming to destroy an Indian Brigade Headquarters, claiming attacks on the Srinagar airbase, targeting decorated Indian armed forces offic

rs with defamatory propaganda.
These claims have been swiftly debunked by Indian authorities, highlighting the lack of evidence and the recycled nature of the visuals used in Pakistan's propaganda. For instance, images shared to support claims of destroyed Indian military infrastructure have been traced back to unrelated incidents or entirely fabricated contexts.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, has been at the forefront of this sophisticated disinformation apparatus. By leveraging social media platforms and pro-Pakistan handles, the ISPR has systematically targeted India's military achievements and spread divisive narratives. This is not a new tactic; Pakistan has previously used similar strategies to discredit India's counter-terrorism operations and portray its military as superior.
India has been proactive in countering Pakistan's falsehoods. Through official channels like PIB Fact Check, the Indian government has ensured timely clarifications to set the record straight. The public is urged to remain vigilant and rely on verified sources to avoid falling prey to Pakistan's propaganda.
Pakistan's disinformation campaign following Operation Sandoor is a desperate attempt to deflect attention from India's decisive action against terrorism. By circulating old images and fabricating claims of military victories, Pakistan seeks to mislead both domestic and international audiences. However, India's robust fact-checking mechanisms and commitment to transparency have effectively exposed these lies. The international community must recognize and condemn Pakistan's tactics, which not only undermine regional stability but also exploit misinformation to fuel conflict.
