‘Operation Sindoor’
5/7/2025 11:12:40 PM
‘Operation Sindoor’ marks a defining moment in India’s fight against terrorism, sending an unambiguous message to those who seek to spill innocent blood on Indian soil. In a swift and calculated response to the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians—mostly tourists—were killed in cold blood, India launched precision missile strikes on terror infrastructure across Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and parts of Pakistan.
This bold and unprecedented military response underscores India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and its unshakable resolve to dismantle its roots, wherever they may lie.
The Pahalgam terror attack was not only an assault on the people of India, but a targeted strike on peace, tourism, and the spirit of Kashmir that has long yearned for normalcy. Coming at a time when Jammu and Kashmir was witnessing a revival of tourism, the attack was a deliberate attempt to derail progress and spread fear. But rather than being cowed down, India responded with strength and resolve. The missile strikes under “Operation Sindoor” targeted and destroyed nine major terror camps, which had long operated with impunity in PoJK and Pakistan.
The precision of these strikes, executed using high-grade indigenous missile systems, stands as a testament to India’s enhanced military capabilities and real-time intelligence gathering. No longer is India content with defensive posturing; instead, it has adopted a doctrine of proactive and punitive retaliation. This is not escalation for escalation’s sake, but a clear statement: attacks on Indian civilians will invite a heavy and disproportionate cost.
“Operation Sindoor” also carries deep symbolic significance. The name, referring to the sacred red mark often associated with sacrifice, valor, and commitment, is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives in Pahalgam. It honors the civilians whose peaceful visit turned into tragedy and the security personnel who continue to put their lives on the line to uphold the nation’s sovereignty.
Internationally, the operation places the spotlight back on Pakistan’s continued harboring of terror groups. Despite global pressure and repeated calls for action against outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, terror camps continue to thrive with impunity. India’s missile strikes have shattered the myth of untouchable sanctuaries. By hitting these camps directly, India has turned the cost-benefit calculus of Pakistan’s proxy war on its head.
Crucially, Operation Sindoor is not just about vengeance—it is about deterrence. It aims to send a lasting message that India will strike hard and decisively against those who orchestrate terror, regardless of borders. It also reflects the broader strategic shift in India’s national security doctrine: no safe haven will be spared, no provocation will go unanswered, and no terrorist will be beyond reach.
Operation Sindoor is a stark reminder to the enemies of peace that this is a New India—patient but powerful, peace-loving but unrelenting in the pursuit of justice.
