Kishtwar, May 11: The Indian Army organized a Veteran/ExSM/Veer Nari/Matas meet at Gando, Kishtwar, on 10 May 2025, to express gratitude and deep respect for the Ex-Servicemen (ExSM) and their families. The event saw enthusiastic participation from veterans, Veer Naris (widows of martyrs), and the dependents of retired soldiers, highlighting the strong bond between the serving personnel and their predecessors.
This gathering was a tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices made by the veterans and their families, reflecting the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to them. The event was designed to celebrate the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of those who served the nation with honor and pride. It also served as a platform to strengthen the relationship between serving personnel and veterans, allowing them to share experiences and discuss welfare-related concerns.
During the meet, several important topics were covered, including post-retirement benefits, healthcare schemes, pension updates, and resettlement opportunities for veterans. An open forum was organized where veterans had the chance to voice their concerns and provide suggestions directly to Army leadership, ensuring their opinions continue to shape the future of the Army and its veterans’ welfare programs.
The event concluded with assurances from the Army leadership to work towards addressing the challenges faced by Ex-Servicemen, emphasizing that their welfare remains a top priority. A total of 56 Ex-Servicemen and 07 NCC Cadets participated in the event.
This interaction provided veterans with an opportunity to understand the ongoing efforts being made to support them and reaffirmed the Army’s dedication to their well-being. The meet highlighted the Army’s continued efforts to honor and care for those who have sacrificed for the nation.
Lt. Col. Suneel Bartwal played a key role in organizing and facilitating the event, ensuring its success.
