Reasi police arrests notorious drug peddler, recovers 5.43 grams heroin-like substance

Reasi, May 11: In continuation of its relentless war against drug menace under the campaign “Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh”, Reasi Police has once again struck a major blow to the drug peddling network in the district.
Acting on a tip-off, a surprise naka was laid today near SMVDSB Stadium, Katra, by a police party led by SHO Katra. During the operation, one person namely Kishore Kumar S/O Sham Lal R/O Aghar Jitto, Katra, Reasi was apprehended. Upon search, a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 5.43 grams was recovered from his possession.
A case FIR No. 131/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the drug network.
The arrested individual is a notorious repeat offender, previously involved in multiple cases:
1. FIR No. 266/2013 U/S 451/323/147/148 RPC
2. FIR No. 167/2019 U/S 341/323/506/34 IPC
3. FIR No. 255/2023 U/S 341/323/504/406 IPC
4. FIR No. 242/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act
5. FIR No. 131/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act.
SSP Reasi Sh. Paramvir Singh (JKPS), while issuing a stern warning to drug peddlers, said:
“There is no place for drug peddlers in Reasi. Anyone involved in illegal narcotics activities will be dealt with an iron hand. It is high time for those involved in such crimes to shun the path of destruction and reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.”
Reasi Police reiterates its commitment to make the district drug-free and seeks active support from the public in this noble mission.
