Shiv Tandava’, ‘Bhay Bin Hoi Na Preeti’: Army blends tradition with power in stern message to Pak | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 12: In a series of back-to-back press conferences held on Sunday and Monday, top commanders of the Indian armed forces sent a powerful and culturally symbolic message to Pakistan—blending military might with India’s civilizational ethos. The briefings began with resonant verses, including the Shiva Tandava Stotra, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s iconic poem “Yachna Nahi Ab Ran Hoga”, and a chaupai from Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas, all underscoring India’s firm resolve against any future provocation. Following the ceasefire declaration between India and Pakistan on Saturday, the Indian Army issued a strong warning to its western neighbor against any misadventure. During the joint press conferences, the tri-services not only showcased their operational readiness but also invoked deep-rooted literary and cultural symbols to convey India’s commitment to peace—backed by unyielding strength. On Sunday, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajeev Ghai, along with Air Marshal A.K. Bharti and Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, addressed the media. The briefing commenced with the powerful chanting of the Shiva Tandava Stotra, symbolizing divine force and the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. Lt Gen Ghai announced that under Operation Sindoor, the Indian military had destroyed nine terrorist hideouts across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), eliminating over 100 terrorists. He reiterated that if Pakistan violates the ceasefire again, India is fully prepared to deliver a decisive and forceful response. In Monday’s press briefing, the opening lines were from Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s patriotic poem: “Yachna nahi ab ran hoga, sangharsh bada bhishan hoga, jeevan jai ya maran hoga” (There will be no plea, now there will be a devastating war—only victory or death). These words, delivered at the outset, emphasized the Army’s unambiguous stance: India seeks peace, but will not shy away from conflict if provoked. Lt Gen Ghai stated, “We have taken decisive action under Operation Sindoor. Pakistan must understand that any provocation will be met with full force.” He added that the Indian Air Force successfully intercepted and neutralized multiple Pakistani drones and missile threats using the indigenous Akash Air Defence System. The press conference concluded with an evocative chaupai from the Ramcharitmanas: “Binay na manat jaladhi jad, gaye teen din beeti. Bole Ram sakop tab, bhay bin hoye na preeti.” (When the sea refused to respond to Lord Ram’s humble requests, he declared that without fear, there can be no love.) Quoting this couplet, Air Marshal Bharti remarked, “Just as Lord Ram had to instill fear in the sea, India too seeks peace—but if provoked, our response will be sharp and uncompromising.” The Army made it clear that despite the ceasefire, Indian forces remain on high alert. Lt Gen Ghai confirmed that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire on Saturday night, prompting a swift and appropriate Indian response. He reiterated that India’s defence systems are robust and fully capable of handling any escalation. Through these culturally enriched briefings, the Indian Armed Forces not only underscored their operational readiness but also reaffirmed a deeper national message: India’s quest for peace is rooted in strength, and any hostile act will be met with firm resistance. The integration of cultural and literary references in the military narrative has not only served to warn Pakistan but also bolstered national unity and patriotic fervor among the Indian public. |
