VIJAYPUR, May 21: Government Degree College Vijaypur organised screening of documentary on drug addiction under the flagship banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event was conducted under the able supervision of Dr. Ashu Vashisht, the Principal of GDC, Vijaypur.The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat,Nodal Officer of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan of GDC Vijaypur. He exhorted drug abuse has led to a detrimental impact on the society which further led to increase in the crime rates in the country. The documentary aimed at creating awareness among the students and local people about the impact of drugs on emotional, mental and social health.
The documentary screened helped the students to understand that drug addiction can have serious consequences for the individual and society as a whole and on individual level drugs can damage physical health, including organ damage, infectious diseases, and overdose fatalities. Only a collective approach from lawmakers, educators, community leaders, and individuals themselves can combat drug addiction.
The Principal of the college Dr. Ashu Vashisht briefed the students that the aim of organising such events is to aware them about the consequences of illicit drug use that is widespread and is causing permanent physical and emotional damage to users which negatively impact their families, co-workers, and many others related to them directly or indirectly.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anjana Raina (Lecturer, Political Science). The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, Nodal Officer, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and co-coordinated by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Anita Jamwal, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, Prof. Meetu Sharma, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Dr. Anjana Raina, Prof Madhu Bala.
