Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba celebrated World Bee Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba under the dynamic leadership of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu and direct supervision of Prof. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu celebrated World Bee Day 2025 at village Sadwal. The programme was enthusiastically attended by more than 50 number of farmers of the area. The major objective of the programme was to create awareness about the significant role of bees and other pollinators in keeping humans healthy and solving various challenges. The programme was chaired by Prof. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief scientist & Head, KVK Samba. He welcomed all the beekeepers and participants of Sadwal village. In his address, he laid thrust on "World Bee Day" and its celebrations every year to raise awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators. World Bee Day aims to promote actions that protect bees and their habitats, as well as highlight the significance of pollinators in maintaining biodiversity and ensuring global food security. He stressed upon the importance of Beekeeping in increasing the productivity of crops. He briefed that how the Beekeeping can play important role in doubling the farm income by adopting different means like value addition, marketing and grading of Honey. World Bee Day is an excellent opportunity to put bees at the centre of the national conversation for a day and encourage action for improved outcomes for bees. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by KVK Samba in promotion of Bee Keeping on war footing in close association with the allied departments. Dr. Saurav Gupta, Senior Scientist Entomology of KVK, Samba highlighted the "World Bee Day" theme in 2025 is ""Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all". He delivered an expert lecture on role of beekeeping in increasing agricultural production and productivity.
