Early Times Report JAMMU, May 21: A mega awareness event on Drug Abuse was organized today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Satwari, under the able guidance and supervision of the Principal, Mrs. Vandana Gupta. The event aimed at educating students and the community about the rising menace of drug abuse and the need for preventive action. The event was graced by the presence of several esteemed guests including Dr. Amrita Kotwal, Medical Officer from NTPHC Chatha; Ms. Deepika Kapoor from the Social Welfare Department; and Sh. Bharat Bhushan, Ex-Corporator and social worker, whose valuable insights enriched the program. The programme commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by a powerful and inspiring speech on drug abuse by the school Principal, Mrs. Vandana Gupta. A warm welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Puja Abrol, setting the tone for the day's proceedings. The dignitaries delivered well-articulated speeches, stressing the importance of awareness and collective action in combating drug abuse, especially among youth. To further amplify the message, the students and teachers presented a series of cultural performances, including Saraswati Vandana, poems, skits, and speeches centered on the theme of drug abuse prevention. A short film on drug abuse was also screened, leaving a strong impact on the audience. Alka Sharma, Zonal Incharge, Cultural Cell Satwari, coordinated the program with her enthusiastic participation. She also recited a self-composed poem on drug abuse, which was highly appreciated. The event was meticulously organized by Puja Abrol and Poonam Vaid, ensuring its success and smooth execution. The vote of thanks was presented by Mtr. Rashda Akhter, while the program proceedings were effectively conducted by students Muskan Rajput and Muskan Bhau. The event concluded with an awareness pledge taken by all attendees, reaffirming their commitment to stay away from drugs and spread awareness in society.
