Natrang stages Hilarious Hindi comedy ‘Prem Visheshagya’ at Sunday Theatre | | | early times report
Jammu, May 25: As part of its regular weekly theatre series ‘Sunday Theatre,’ Natrang Theatre Group delighted audiences with a thought-provoking Hindi comedy play titled ‘Prem Visheshagya’ at its Studio Theatre. The play, penned by renowned satirist Hari Shankar Parsai and directed by Balwant Thakur, offered a humorous yet poignant commentary on the obsession with romantic love among today’s youth. With sharp wit and clever storytelling, Prem Visheshagya centers around a self-proclaimed love guru who runs a clinic for heartbroken lovers. As he deals with increasingly complex cases of modern-day relationships, he finds himself entangled in a similar web of emotions. The comic twist intensifies when a young woman visits the clinic, hoping to escape the clingy advances of a modern-day ‘Majnu’. Ironically, the love guru himself falls for the girl, prompting the question: who heals the healer when he becomes the patient? The play kept the audience in splits with its cleverly crafted dialogue and comic timing, but it also delivered a powerful social message. It urged the younger generation to focus on building their futures and not to lose themselves in superficial infatuations that often masquerade as love. The talented cast included Aryan Sharma, Adaksh Bagal, Prerna Sharma, Kartik Kumar, and Amit Rana, whose energetic performances brought the story to life. Lighting design was handled by Neeraj Kant, with coordination by Mohd. Yaseen and presentations by Simran Bhagat. With Prem Visheshagya, Natrang once again proved its commitment to using theatre as a medium for both entertainment and meaningful dialogue, leaving the audience both amused and reflective.
