| Bovine smugglers kill ASI, injure cop in Samba | | | Early Times Report
May 25: A police official was killed and another injured early this morning when bovine smugglers rammed their vehicle into a police naka at Phoolpur area of Samba district.
As per reports, acting on specific information, police had set up the barricades at Phoolpur to stop a cattle smuggling attempt.
When signaled to stop, reports said, the smugglers sped up and hit the barricades to crush the on-duty police personnel.
ASI Yograj, who sustained critical injuries in the incident, succumbed during treatment at AIIMS Vijaypur while as another injured police official is undergoing treatment at the hospital, they said.
The smugglers managed to escape after the incident, reports said.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation and a search is on to catch those involved.
This incident came just days after drug smugglers attacked a police team in the Balol Khad area of Samba. In that attack, an SHO, a PSI, and a Selection Grade Constable were seriously injured. |
