New Delhi, May 25: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the country’s largest and most trusted insurer, has made history by earning the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the “Most life insurance policies sold in 24 hours.” This landmark achievement was officially verified and recognized for the Corporation’s exceptional performance on January 20, 2025, now celebrated as "Mad Million Day."
On this extraordinary day, a remarkable 4,52,839 LIC agents issued a staggering 5,88,107 life insurance policies across the country within a single day — setting a new global benchmark for productivity and outreach in the life insurance industry.
The initiative was inspired by an appeal from Mr. Siddhartha Mohanty, CEO & Managing Director of LIC, who encouraged every agent to complete at least one policy on January 20, 2025. The overwhelming response and sheer dedication displayed by the LIC workforce culminated in this global recognition.
“This GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title is a tribute to the hard work, skill, and unwavering commitment of our agents,” said Mr. Mohanty. “It not only reflects our strong mission to protect the financial future of millions of Indians but also celebrates the trust that our customers have consistently placed in LIC.”
He also expressed gratitude to the Corporation’s vast customer base, employees, and agents, saying, “This collective effort has made ‘Mad Million Day’ a historic milestone, and it is now etched in global records.”
This achievement underscores LIC’s leadership in the insurance sector and its relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in customer service. It is a proud moment not just for the organization, but for the entire nation.
