84 Bn CRPF celebrates 40th Raising Day!

JAMMU, June 2: Raised on 01 June 1985, Group Centre CRPF New Delhi, 84 Bn CRPF has been rendering selfless service to the Nation in all the conflict theatres viz J&K, NE, etc and it also actively contributed in combating militancy in Punjab. Since 2010, the Battalion is deployed in Jammu and Kashmir and securing the major lifeline NH 44, connecting Kashmir Valley with Jammu and Rest of India, over a stretch of 47 km in Ramban District.
The 40th Raising Day celebration was organized at Tac Hq 84 Bn Chanderkote Ramban. The day began with a prayer at Sarv Dharm Prathna Sthal, where a joint prayer was held for a successful and fulfilling year ahead, followed by the Battalion Personnel paying homage to the martyrs of the Unit who made supreme sacrifices, in the line of duty. A new flag was hoisted in the Quarter Guard and the Commandant received the Guard of Honour. Commandant addressed the Unit personnel, through Sainik Sammelan, in which he extended his greetings to all Unit personnel and their families. He further reiterated the glorious service rendered by the Unit and its valiant personnel, and appealed all to emulate such ideals that will keep the flag of the Battalion, CRPF and the Nation flying high.
As a part of the celebration, 20 Unit personnel voluntarily donated their Blood, in a campaign organized in tandem with the District Hospital Ramban. To contribute to the cause of Greener Planet, 200 saplings were planted in and around the campus by the Unit personnel. In the run up to the Raising Day, Physical endurance, Weapon handling, Firing, Badminton, Volleyball and Lawn Tennis competitions were organized among the Unit personnel.
The day culminated with a grand cultural evening performance by the Unit personnel in which Smt and Sh Vivek Bhandral DIG CRPF graced as the Chief Guest. Smt Rubeena Begum, a CRPF Veer Naari, resident of Maitra Ramban, was also felicitated during the evening function. Certificates and Prizes were distributed to the Blood donors and winners and runners up of various competitions held. A Bada Khana was also organized in which the officers, personnel and their families attended.
