JAMMU, June 2: Nature has always been a constant companion of human life. Under its shelter, civilizations have taken shape, cultures have flourished, and life has evolved continuously. However, when human greed exceeded the limits of balance, this life-sustaining nature had to suffer. Often, humans forget that they themselves are an integral part of this very nature. Today, the echo of environmental crisis is shaking global consciousness, and as a result, the United Nations observes World Environment Day every year on June 5.
Inspired by this global initiative, the Sant Nirankari Mission's social wing, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, under the benevolent and visionary guidance of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj, is organizing a massive Tree Plantation and Cleanliness Drive on June 5, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at 18 major hill and tourist destinations across the country. This campaign, centered around the UN-designated theme "Beat Plastic Pollution," is not just a strong step toward a clean, green, and balanced environment, but also an inspiring effort to sensitize the youth towards nature and instill a sense of environmental responsibility. It is an initiative that connects service, harmony, and awareness with public consciousness.
Joginder Sukheja, Secretary of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, shared that since 2014, the Mission has been observing World Environment Day in alignment with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) theme. This is not merely a one-day event but a continuous public awareness campaign aimed at reinforcing a harmonious relationship between nature and humanity.
