Early Times Report AKHNOOR, July 23: Senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member, Pt. Suresh Sharma, conducted an on-ground visit to assess the damage caused by heavy rainfall in various villages of Chhamb Assembly Constituency. During his visit to the panchayats of Barui, Nardi, and Maira Mandrian in the Maira Mandrian block, he interacted with local residents and inspected the damage firsthand. Suresh Sharma expressed concern over issues such as land erosion, damaged roads, and landslides resulting from continuous rainfall. He directed the concerned departmental officials to take immediate and effective steps to address these problems, ensuring timely restoration of affected areas. He emphasized that since it is the monsoon season, it must be ensured that no road remains blocked, so that people do not face inconvenience in commuting. Discussing the prolonged power outages due to broken electric poles, Sharma termed the situation alarming and instructed senior officials of the Power Department to expedite the repair work. He stressed that electricity should not remain cut off for extended periods, as it severely disrupts normal life. Local residents of the area were also present during the inspection and expressed their concerns, to which Sharma assured all possible support and timely action. |
