Fencers Shreya & Vishal to reprsent India in World Championship

JAMMU, July 23: The ace international fencers of Jammu and Kashmir Shreya Gupta and Vishal Thapar are going to represent India in World championship being held at Tbilisi, Georgia from 23rd July to 30th July 2025. These two top fencers have qualified for this prestigious tournament on the basis of ranking in recently held Asian championship at Bali, Indonesia. Both the fencers had their rankings in first eight spots in sabre category of Asian championship. The selection of these fencers in world championship is a result of hard work, rigorous training and commendable consistent performance put in by these prominent fencers of India. Continuing their excellent performance at national and international levels both the fencers who have bringing laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by winning medals regularly, are confident of giving their excellent performance in this championship. The J&K Amateur Fencing Association has lauded the performance of these fencers for their outstanding achievement and selection in this prestigious tournament. President Nisha Sharma, General Secretary Bhanu Vijay Sharma congratulated the fencers for bringing laurels and hoped that they will give their best to excel in the competition.
The Secretary, J&K Sports council Mrs Nuzhut Gull has appreciated the efforts and dedication of the fencers for bringing continuously laurels for jammu and Kashmir. She said their selection has made the region proud thus thereby bringing another milestone for JKUT. She said that there is no dearth of sporting talent in JKUT and LG Administration is providing all the necessary support to athletes so that they can give their best results.
