Early Times Report GURDASPUR, July 30: The Orientation Program for the newly admitted first-year students was held on 29th July 2025 at Sardar Beant Singh State University, Gurdaspur, under the esteemed guidance of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. S.K. Misra. The event was successfully organized and managed by Dr. Harish Pungotra, Dean Academic Affairs, and Dr. Gurpadam Singh, Dean Student Welfare. The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, along with the Deans and Heads of Departments (HoDs) present. A prayer was offered to the Almighty, seeking blessings for the academic journey of the students. Awasthi - Dean Accreditation Dr. Ajay Kumar - Registrar All dignitaries extended a warm welcome to the new students and offered valuable guidance for their academic and personal development. Dr. Sarbjeet Sidhu encouraged students to actively participate in both academics and extracurricular activities to become responsible citizens of the nation. In his keynote address, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. S.K. Misra inspired the students to focus on physical fitness, character building, and lifelong learning. He emphasized that learning should continue 24x7 in the vibrant campus environment of SBSSU. Dr. Misra highlighted the challenges posed by India's large population (~140 crores), noting that not everyone can be employed in traditional jobs. He urged students to take up innovation, entrepreneurship, and experimentation, which will be key in making India a global leader by 2047. He proudly mentioned Operation Sindoor, where indigenous technology and weapons played a pivotal role, showcasing India's self-reliance. Dr. Misra also introduced a new exclusive two-credit course on Entrepreneurship, designed to foster innovation and business skills among students. He concluded his address by chanting the university's motivating slogan: "Nishchay Kar Apni Jeet Karo" ("Resolve to win") Finally, the program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, marking a patriotic and hopeful beginning for the students' academic journey at SBSSU. |
