BJP’s central leadership directs J&K unit to launch aggressive campaign on post-370 gains

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30: As the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir approaches the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has issued clear instructions to its Jammu and Kashmir unit to launch an aggressive and coordinated public campaign to highlight the achievements of the Modi government in the region since the constitutional revocation on August 5, 2019.
According to party insiders, the central leadership has expressed the need to counter what it sees as a “misleading and politically motivated” campaign being run by the Congress and other opposition parties that are demanding the restoration of statehood.
The BJP’s counter-campaign will aim to shift the public discourse toward what it calls the "gains of peace, progress, and prosperity" made possible only after the scrapping of J&K’s special status and the reorganization of the erstwhile state into two Union Territories — Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The sixth anniversary of the historic move is being treated by the BJP not just as a symbolic milestone, but as a political opportunity to reinforce its narrative among the people of the region, particularly in Jammu where the party draws a significant portion of its support. The party plans to organize a series of outreach events from August 5 onwards, including public rallies, media briefings, intellectual conclaves, social media campaigns, and village-level interactions.

ay be roped in to attend high-visibility events in the region, reinforcing the party’s message that Article 370 was an obstacle to development and democracy and its abrogation has ushered in a new era for Jammu and Kashmir.
The local unit has been advised to focus on the following achievements in its campaign including a decline in stone-pelting incidents, neutralization of top terrorist commanders, and strengthening of law and order post-2019.
The BJP views the Congress party’s renewed push for statehood restoration as an attempt to undo the transformational progress achieved in the last six years.
The high command has asked its state leaders to vocally remind the public that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have already assured that statehood will be restored at an appropriate time — but only after ensuring long-term peace and administrative stability.
Party functionaries have been tasked with exposing what they describe as the “hypocrisy” of the Congress, which, according to the BJP, allowed separatism, dynastic politics, and corruption to fester in J&K for decades under the guise of special status.
The BJP is also planning to mobilize its cadre across all districts of the Union Territory, with special drives in remote and border areas to ensure that the party’s message reaches every corner. Booth-level workers, Mandal committees, and Morchas (Youth, SC/ST, Women, etc.) have been instructed to hold awareness programs and highlight post-370 progress stories using local examples.
