Early Times Report JAMMU, July 30: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Laboratory, organized a dedicated stakeholder consultation seminar under the theme "BIS-ACADEMIA-LABORATORIES: Harnessing Accredited Testing Infrastructure to Enhance the Quality, Credibility, and Reach of BIS Standards." The seminar was graced by the presence of Smt. Nishat S Haque, Scientist G and Deputy Director General (Lab), as the Chief Guest. Also present were Mr. Ajay Tiwari, Head of LPPD; Mr. Rajat Gupta, Scientist D; and Mr. Partha Sarthi Mondal, Head of NRL. All dignitaries delivered insightful speeches, elaborating on the objectives of the stakeholder consultation and underlining the importance of robust testing infrastructure in upholding BIS standards. During the seminar, the speakers highlighted both the upcoming and ongoing Quality Control Orders (QCOs), and emphasized the need for greater collaboration between academia, government laboratories, and BIS. The representatives urged academia and government labs to get empanelled with BIS for the testing of products as per relevant Indian Standards (IS), outlining the significance and benefits of such partnerships. Laboratories with adequate testing facilities were encouraged to associate with BIS and contribute to the enhanced credibility and reach of BIS standards by participating in sample testing. This stakeholder consultation marks a significant step toward strengthening collaborations, enhancing product quality, and ensuring the wider implementation of BIS standards across Jammu and Kashmir. |
