MCM holds workshop on ‘Lean Startup, minimum viable product/business’ | | |  early times report
Chandigarh, Aug 27: The Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), organised a two-day workshop on ‘Lean Startup and Minimum Viable Product/Business’. Day one of the workshop featured insightful sessions by Mr. Balbir Singh, Vice President, RCED (Chandigarh), and Mr. Tarun Kumar Banerjee, International Motivational Speaker, Corporate Trainer, and Business Consultant. Addressing the participants, Mr. Balbir Singh highlighted the growing importance of entrepreneurship in the current economic scenario where job opportunities in government and private sectors are limited. He motivated students to embrace entrepreneurship and transform themselves into job creators rather than job seekers. In the second session, Mr. Tarun Kumar Banerjee introduced participants to the concept of Lean Startup. He elaborated on how budding entrepreneurs can align their ideas with customer needs and shared insights on the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle as a practical framework for business growth. Day two of the workshop was led by Mr. Balbir Singh and Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED. In his session, Mr. Balbir Singh discussed key entrepreneurial competencies such as initiative, persistence, time management, risk-taking, and effective decision-making. He encouraged students to act upon opportunities and to pursue their goals with courage. he concluding session, conducted by Mr. Paramjit Singh, shed light on various initiatives by the Government of India including Make in India, Startup India, Digital India, and Skill India, along with employment generation programmes spearheaded by the Prime Minister . He encouraged participants to explore these initiatives as enablers of entrepreneurial growth and national development. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the efforts of the department and commended the workshop for providing students with a knowledge-driven platform to nurture entrepreneurial skills and innovative thinking. She urged students to actively engage in such initiatives that empower them to shape their own futures.
